As you have probably seen already (bit hard to miss), Elastixconnection.com has undergone a bit of facelift, tummy-tuck, and a reasonable re-alignment.
When Elastixconnection was put online, one of its goals was to provide a more detailed forum area for Elastix, especially as Elastix.org was lacking in this area (they were busy working on the Elastix core product so it was very understandable). Now that Rafael (Elastix Community Manager) has come on board at Elastix, we have seen some dramatic and much needed improvements to the Elastix.org site.
To this end Elastixconnection, was really a duplication of these forums which was not really needed, and believe me the little time that I have, I would rather it was on a productive endeavour.
ElastixConnection will focus more on integration projects with Elastix. These projects will be a step by step with screen captures and trouble shooting, so that even the Elastix novice can follow. We have documented many implementations in our internal documentation system, and we are placing most of these material on the site. Some initial projects will include
1) ISymphony installation (Online)
2) Asternic-Stats (Queue Stats) Installation (Online)
3) How to write custom AGI Scripts and integrate into Elastix/Freepbx
4) Mondo Backup
5) Hudlite installation
6) Chan_Mobile installation (still resolving some issues).
And we have many more, which just need formatting and notation for other users.
In other words, in depth explanation of implementation. If you can imagine, many of the current forum posts are very brief, and in many cases, the reader has to still spend some time locating certain files, then they find the wrong version, get themselves in a mess because dependencies are still needing to be resolved, and many give up on the project, or many spend weeks trying to resolve the issue. These tutorials explain just about everything. They will kept up to date by forum feedback, so if an RPM is no longer available from a site, we modify the tutorial to point to another site with the file.
Each one of these tutorials is tested by us, and in most cases we are providing these notes to others to confirm that they can be followed by others. As well, our forums will have an area for each tutorial, so that they can be discussed, improved, issues resolved, enhancements and so on.
These tutorials can be written by anyone, not just me. I will kick off with a fair few, but if you feel you can write tutorials in a similar vein please provide them, and will be happy to publish them on the site, with appropriate credits.
So the one thing on your mind, is what happens to the recent posts?? We are not getting rid of them. You will note that they are further down the list as the tutorials will take precedence, and over the next few weeks, you will see that we merge some of these older forums, but the posts will be kept online as there is some great stuff in the previous posts.
I hope you like the changes. If some of the above tutorials are not online yet, we plan to have them up by the 8th of December, so that you can try some over the holiday period.
